Thank you for taking the time to be here. My name is Sue and I became a counsellor after a medical retirement meant losing both my Teaching and Pastoral career . It felt like I had lost the essence of who I was; and had been robbed of my future, my driving license, my freedom, my self worth.
I have lived experience of Chronic Health Conditions and think this offers me an empathic response to people with disabilities.

Loss can be present in so much of our life: that of a loved one, a job, innocence, safety, hope. Being able to recognise, accept and release these feelings enables us to move on with purpose. Bereavement and Loss is an example of an area I can explore with you.

Training as a person-centred counsellor, I believe that you have all the tools and strengths within yourself, to be the best version of you; but for whatever reason you have currently met a mountain you cannot climb. Using reflection, genuine empathy and a non-judgemental space we can work to express and explore those feelings.

I also use training from other disciplines such as Transactional analysis, Inner child, Existential theory and CBT depending on what seems most appropriate when I meet and work with you, but it will always be your choice how deep we work and the directions you choose. You are the expert on You

“When a person realizes he has been deeply heard, his eyes moisten. I think in some real sense he is weeping for joy. It is as though he were saying, "Thank God, somebody heard me. Someone knows what it's like to be me”
― Carl R. Rogers ( the Father of person-centred therapy)

I believe that we cannot forget the past and the way it has informed our lives but we can learn to live in the now and look forward to a brighter future.

I work in a dedicated room on the ground floor of my private home, with access to a toilet.
This provides a comfortable, private, peaceful setting, away from the hustle and bustle of life.
There is ample parking in the street or I am 2 minutes walk from 27 bus stop, and 25 minutes walk from Benfleet train station ( c2c)
